Sophia is the greek word for wisdom. This Owl Pendant was molded from a 2,000 year old Greek Drachma Coin. Then cast in fine silver. The owl was hailed as a symbol of wisdom in ancient greece....which is where the phrase "Wise as an Owl" is derived from.
